8w5d Appointment

Our appointment went well. Unfortunately, they did an external u/s which made for a poor quality picture. She did external because they doc wanted to take a culture to make sure I didn't have any infections and she wouldn't be able to use the gel for the internal. The bean measured within 1 day of what it should, which is much better than in the past! And it's heartbeat was 175! I go back next Thursday to see if next Friday is the last day I need to use the progesterone... I hope everything's still going well because I hate those stupid suppositories! The doc also took a lot of blood work (4 viles).

Dave and I agreed to do the Ultra Screen testing for downs and trisomy 18. Apparently this is a newer type of test that uses a sonogram and blood work around the 12th week. It has a 5% chance of false positive, which is much better than the other non-invasive testing options. So, I go back the week before Christmas for that. After that appointment I'll move to going in every month instead of 1-2 weeks like I've been going. I'll kinda miss seeing our bean all the time!

I was also excited to hear that the doc doesn't like to let his patients go past 40 weeks! As he put it "nothing good happens by waiting till 41 or 42 weeks"! WooHoo!!!
